Parks, gardens, and natural areas worldwide are created, enjoyed, protected, and restored by people. At its annual benefit luncheon at the Central Park Boathouse each May, the Foundation for Landscape Studies traditionally conferred a Place Maker and a Place Keeper award on notable landscape designers, garden creators, and stewards of place. Listed here are these and other noteworthy people who have made, and continue to make, important contributions to landscape architectural practice and landscape studies education as well as individuals whose commitment to landscape preservation and stewardship set inspirationally high standard for others.
